Governance 2.0

Our team at OAK Network are excited about the on-chain governance and democracy changes that are coming to Polkadot, Kusama, and parachains with the roll out of Governance 2.0. The new governance system introduces some useful changes such as Origin Types and Tracks for creating much greater efficiency which will allow proposals and referenda to have dynamic execution and voting times. This is a feature that our team is looking forward to utilizing on the Turing Network and on the OAK Network in the future. To learn more about Origins and Tracks check out the link below from the official Polkadot page.

Governance 2.0 will also mark the removal of the Council and Technical Committee for Kusama and Polkadot. These parties will be replaced by the Polkadot Fellowship. Turing Network will however not be replacing our Governance Council and Technical Committee with the roll out of Governance 2.0. The Turing Network Technical Committee was recently updated with new members. You can see the list of members on the link below.

One of the key advantages of the Governance 2.0 changes from a parachain perspective is that we will be able to utilize features from both the original governance system and the new governance 2.0 features. If you want to learn more about how Governance 2.0 will impact parachains specifically, check out the link below where Bill Laboon from the Web3 Foundation talks to OAK Network’s researcher Christian Dirk about parachain governance and how parachains may utilize the new changes.

Our team suspects that the changes to Polkadot and Kusama governance will create significant opportunities for parachains to evolve their current governance systems and we are looking forward to seeing what kind of advancements are adopted by the ecosystem.

If you want to discuss how Governance 2.0 will be used by parachains head to our Discord and join the discussion in our Governance channel.

Turing Network Treasury

Our team is currently updating the process and information for our community to receive $TUR funds from the Turing Network Treasury. The Treasury is responsible for supporting Network initiatives and collaborations using an on-chain reserve of funds managed by the Governance Council. The funds are available for a variety of different projects including but not limited to:

- Technical Integrations or Collaborations

- Community Events (Both in-person and online)

- Turing and OAK related Content (Videos, Graphics, Articles, Memes)

- Security Analysis & Insights

Any venture which supports the development or advancement of the Turing Network or Turing/OAK ecosystem will be considered by the Governance Council. If you have an idea for a proposal for the treasury, we strongly encourage you to discuss the idea in the designated Turing Treasury Discussion channel in the OAK Network community Discord before submitting on-chain.

Our team is also updating the documentation on our website to include how a TUR token holder can submit a Turing Treasury proposal, how to claim a Treasury bounty, and how to request a tip from Council.

You can also use Polkassembly to see any current discussions about Turing treasury requests and see the current status of any proposals.

Turing Network Staging

For developers that are interested in creating automation based solutions that utilize the Turing Network our team is updating how our staging parachain works. Individuals with a well thought out idea will be able to request tokens for our staging parachain so that they can test their features before attempting to deploy on Turing.

If you are interested in receiving tokens for staging or wanting to learn more about how you might be able to use automation to create innovative services we recommend heading to our community Discord and check out the Tech Lab. To request tokens for staging you will need to fill out the form linked below.

OAK Network Governance

After our successful crowdloan on Polkadot our team is excited about the launch of our mainnet. Our OAK Network parachain will use a similar governance structure to the Turing Network. We are currently in the process of updating all OAK Network governance documentation. To stay up to date for developments on OAK Network we recommend following our social media.
