In a year marked by challenges and opportunities for crypto, the Ava Protocol team spent 2024 building tools that make web3 automation practical and accessible for developers and everyday users alike. Key milestones included the launch of our EigenLayer AVS, integrations with cutting-edge partners that extend our reach, a series of collaborative events and hackathons, and the impending debut of our no-code Studio interface for building automated workflows.
Each step we’ve taken reflects our commitment to practical, user-friendly solutions that streamline complexity and expand the possibilities of decentralized applications. Here’s a closer look at what we accomplished — and where we’re headed in 2025.
EigenLayer AVS Launch
We evolved from OAK Network to Ava Protocol this year to reflect our expanded focus on Ethereum and layer-2 chains. The launch of our Actively Validated Service (AVS) on EigenLayer was the centerpiece of this transition. Ava Protocol leverages EigenLayer's restaking model to deliver event-driven execution based on predefined conditions, reliably automating multi-step transactions on Ethereum and beyond. Combining off-chain data signals with onchain execution, our AVS empowers developers to automate everything from recurring payments to dynamic trading strategies without compromising security or privacy.
By building and launching on EigenLayer, Ava Protocol was able to quickly establish cryptoeconomic security and scalability. Within two months, we onboarded over 30 operators and secured up to $5 billion in ETH backing — a testament to the confidence the community has placed in our vision.
To help strengthen the EigenLayer ecosystem, we organized a series of meetups in partnership with Celo and EigenLayer, bringing teams together to explore advancements in security, scalability, and innovation. Our founder Chris Li also joined Nader Dabit, director of developer relations at Eigen Labs, on the Infinite Layers podcast to discuss how Ava Protocol uniquely enables smarter, more powerful super-transactions.
Studio: No-Code Interface
In the final stretch of 2024, we’ve been hard at work preparing to launch Ava Protocol’s Studio, an intuitive platform for designing, testing, and deploying autonomous workflows. The Studio empowers users to create automated processes through a drag-and-drop interface, eliminating the need for complex scripts. Developers and non-developers alike can easily automate tasks such as scheduled payments, stop-loss orders, and cross-chain interactions with ease.
A particularly exciting dimension is Studio’s integration with AI agents. Users will be able to design onchain workflows that support sophisticated new levels of automation. Imagine a DeFi workflow that uses AI to automatically adjust your investment strategy and rebalance your portfolio when market conditions change, or one that automatically adjusts collateral ratios in lending protocols based on risk analysis of market conditions and wallet behavior patterns. These integrations will bridge the gap between AI and onchain execution, creating solutions that adapt to user intent with precision.
Partnerships
This year also saw Ava Protocol deepen its utility through high-impact collaborations, each reflecting a dedication to enabling smarter, more secure operations across web3.
Soneium: Creative Enterprise at Scale
Soneium is a new Ethereum layer 2 from Sony Block Solutions Labs designed to incorporate blockchain into real-world, creator-based use cases. Ava Protocol is helping developers on the Soneium Minato testnet use our tools to streamline asset management, automate mechanics, and simplify dapp deployment. Alongside Soneium, Ava Protocol is strengthening blockchain’s ability to meet the needs of creative industries.
Phala Network: Enhancing Transaction Privacy
Partnering with Phala Network, a leader in privacy-focused blockchain solutions and AI coprocessing, Ava Protocol is incorporating trusted execution environments (TEEs) to secure super-transactions. This ensures that transaction logic, including sensitive details like triggers and amounts, remains private while preserving trustlessness.
Term Finance: Automating Liquidations
Term Finance, a decentralized fixed-rate lending platform, is integrating Ava Protocol to decentralize and automate key operations like liquidations and blind auction price reveals. The partnership helps to reduce Term Finance’s operational costs, enhance its reliability, and scale its ability to protect lenders from bad debt while decentralizing critical processes.
Zoth: Bridging Traditional Finance and DeFi
Ava Protocol partnered with Zoth, a platform that’s bridging traditional finance and DeFi via tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). By automating workflows and payments for fixed-income notes and stablecoins, Ava Protocol supports Zoth’s mission to integrate real-world value into decentralized systems, opening new avenues for institutional adoption.
Openstory Acquisition
Early this year, Ava Protocol acquired Openstory, an industry-leading data streaming platform for on-chain data and analytics, bringing on Vinh Nguyen as systems architect. The acquisition sharpened Ava Protocol’s ability to provide precise and timely insights into EVM chain activities through real-time data streaming and analytic capabilities. Vinh’s expertise has also enriched the team’s technical capabilities, reinforcing our foundation for future growth.
Events: Building Community
Ava Protocol was out and about at many of the year’s biggest blockchain gatherings, sharing our vision and connecting with the broader web3 community.
ETH Denver provided a great occasion for our team to highlight foundational work ahead of our EigenLayer AVS launch. At Consensus 2024, Chris judged the PolkadotSocial Hackathon and the Duke Web3 Pitch Competition and showcased our technology to attendees excited about the prospect of automating transactions and smart contracts with no-code workflows.
Ava Protocol also sponsored specialized hackathon tracks at Permissionless III, challenging participants to build SDKs and product demos that leverage our EigenLayer AVS. Projects like AeroVault and Ava Blocks impressed with creative designs, demonstrating the potential of Ava Protocol to deliver automated solutions with minimal friction.
Coming Up
As we prepare to launch our Studio and integrations with AI agents, Ava Protocol is positioned at a critical juncture for onchain automation that will supercharge web3 utility, efficiency, and adoption. Blending ease of use with advanced capabilities, our tools empower users to exercise full control of their assets while helping dapp developers build smarter and faster.
The potential ahead is vast, and Ava Protocol’s focus remains on creating meaningful tools that solve real problems. We will continue to build innovative solutions, strong partnerships, and our fast-growing community, shaping a more connected, automated future for web3 in 2025.
