OAK newsletter followers grew 62% and articles were read 3,816 times across platforms in Q3 2021.

Highlights

In the last quarter OAK Network focused on creating quality content and sharing them with our followers on English communities such as MediumTwitterLinkedIn and Discord, as well as Chinese communities including WeChat Official Account, and Zhihu.

We published 18 articles on a variety of topics covering OAK development progress, Polkadot developer tutorials, community announcements, etc. In the last quarter our number of followers grew by 62% and our articles were read 3,816 times across various platforms.

Q3 Community Growth:

· Media followers grew 62% across Medium, WeChat Official Account, and Zhihu (Reddit in China);

· Twitter followers grew 100% to 2K;

· Total article views across platforms grew 350%

Medium:

The chart below represents daily and total views of articles posted on our Medium from May 2021 to August 2021. As shown in the chart, we experienced rapid growth on Medium in the last quarter. Total views tripled from July to August as we focused on creating quality technical tutorials for developers. The technical tutorials series we published in August were popular among our readers and brought us a decent amount of claps and views.

Wechat Official Account:

The chart below shows the growth of followers and article views of our Wechat official account. Our followers grew rapidly in July, when the OAK team won the first prize for the Polkadot Hackathon (Check the event out here). The Polkadot Hackathon event and OAK team interviews were covered by a few top blockchain media like ChainNews, 8btc, OneBlock+, etc. The number of followers kept growing in August as we started the series of Polkadot tutorials on a weekly basis.

Zhihu(Reddit in China):

Below chart shows daily and total views of articles posted by OAK’s official Zhihu Account. Zhihu is the #1 knowledge sharing and Q&A platform for Chinese readers. The data shows that the total views of our Zhihu articles have been increasing steadily in the last quarter, with daily views peaking on dates when we posted the Polkadot tutorial articles. The growth of views on Zhihu is subject to content censorship policy which was tightened recently on blockchain related content on the Zhihu platform.

Across Platforms:

The bar in this chapter shows the number of total views across Medium, Wechat and Zhihu from May 2021 to August 2021. While WeChat Official Account contributed around 50% of total views, OAK Medium article views is experiencing the fastest growth among all media channels. We also find that followers on Medium favor developer tutorials over community announcements.

On the contrary, number of monthly total views on Zhihu experienced a negative growth in the last quarter mainly due to tighten content censorship policy on blockchain related content on the Zhihu platform.

The pie chart below shows the distribution of total views across different channels on August 31, 2021. On that day, OAK’s WeChat accounted for 55% of total views, and Medium 27%, which is a 7 percent increase since May. Medium’s views are projected to further increase as we continue to create tutorials for developers and Polkadot enthusiasts in the future.
